From the Tempest
to the Tower
By Kathryn Taylor
In the sea of life I’m just a wave,
Tossed in the tempest deep,
Driven by winds and tides of life,
Crying oceans as I weep…….
A raging storm when anger flares….
Invisible doldrums… I can be~
I carry surfers safely to shore,
Or can wreck ships out at sea……
I’ve sought to change so many times,
To escape my watery grave……
But the undertow pulls once again….
Refusing to release it’s slave~
One day, my Lord will come and say….
When I’m ready……. “Peace! Be still!”~
He’ll gently lift me with His love
And place me upon a hill……
On a firm foundation He will change
A wave into a tower……
A beacon of light will shine from me,
Piercing darkness by His power~
Then I will stand….strong and firm,
Through storms and darkest nights…..
Never again to toss to and fro,
But instead………be a guiding light~
