About God….
~God is not really good. If He were, He would….
~God doesn’t love me
~God is JUST like MY father
~God is not really enough
~God’s ways are too restrictive
~God should fix my problems
About themselves…
~physical beauty matters more than inner beauty
~I should not have to live with unfulfilled longings
~I’m not worth anything
~I need to learn to love myself
~I can’t help the way I am
~I have my rights
About sin….
~I am not fully responsible for my actions and reactions
~I cannot walk in consistent victory over sin
~I can sin and get away with it
~my sin isn’t really that bad
~God can’t forgive what I’ve done
About priorities….
~I can make it without consistent time in the Word and prayer
~a career outside of the home is more valuable and fulfilling than being a wife and mother
~I don’t have time to do everything I’m supposed to do
About emotions….
~if I feel something it must be true
~the answer to depression must first be sought in medication and/or psychotherapy
~I can’t control my emotions
~I can’t help how I respond when my hormones are out of whack (it’s understandable to act like a shrew sometimes)
About circumstances….
~It’s all about me
~if my circumstances were different, I would be different
~I shouldn’t have to suffer
~my circumstances will never change, this will go on forever
~I just can’t take anymore
About children….
~we are not responsible for how our children turn out
~it’s up to us to determine the size of our family
~children need to get exposed to the real world so they can function in it
~all children will go through a rebellious stage
~I know my child is a Christian because he prayed to receive Christ at an early age
About marriage…..
~I have to have a husband to be happy
~sometimes divorce is a better option than staying in a bad marriage
~it is my responsibility to change my mate
~my husband is supposed to serve me
~if I submit to my husband I will be miserable
The Truth that sets us free……….
God is good (Psalms 119:68, 136:1)
God loves me and wants me to have His best (Romans 8:32, 38-39)
I am complete and accepted in Christ (Ephesians 1:4-6)
God is enough (Psalm 23:1)
God can be trusted (Isaiah 28:16)
God doesn’t make any mistakes (Isaiah 46:10)
God’s grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9)
The blood of Christ is sufficient to cover all my sin (1 John 1:7)
The cross of Christ is sufficient to conquer my sinful flesh (Romans 6:6-7)
My past does not have to plaque me (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
God’s Word is sufficient to lead me, teach me, and heal me (Psalms 19:7, 107:20, 119:105)
Through the power of His Holy Spirit, God will enable me to do anything He commands me to do (1 Thessalonians 5:24, Philippians 2:13)
I am responsible to God for my behavior, responses, and choices (Ezekiel 18:19-22)
I will reap whatever I sow (Galations 6:7-8)
The pathway to true joy is to relinquish control (Matt. 16:25, Luke 1:38, 1 Peter 5:7)
The greatest freedom I can experience is found through submission to God-ordained authority (Eph. 5:21)
In the will of God, there is no higher, holier calling than to be a wife and mother (Titus 2:4-5)
Personal holiness is more important than temporal happiness (Eph. 5:26-7)
God is more concerned about changing me and glorifying Himself than about solving my problems (Romans 8:29)
It is impossible to be godly without suffering (1 Peter 5:10)
My suffering will not last forever (2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
